Case 001 · Companionship
Qiqi
One ordinary afternoon.
A senior Golden Retriever resting on the grass, about a month before he passed away.
The memory
Qiqi was a senior Golden Retriever. The photograph that mattered was not the clearest one. It was a quiet afternoon in 2021, when he lay down on the grass to rest.
Keep the moment, not just the portrait. At the time, it was simply an ordinary photo. Later, it became one of the photographs that mattered most.
Age was not a flaw to correct.
His cream-white face, softer coat, and tired resting posture belonged to this stage of his life. The artwork needed to keep them, not smooth them away.
What mattered
What mattered
It wasn’t a perfect portrait.
It was the quiet way he rested on the grass after years of being part of the family — familiar, unposed, and completely himself.
The photographs that shaped it
The grass photo held the moment. Other photographs helped us understand Qiqi's pale senior face, warm golden ears and body, natural-sized dark eyes, and adult proportions.
From memory to artwork
The final artwork keeps the low viewpoint, the scattered leaves, and the sense of a dog who had simply decided to rest for a while.
Made physical
A real ceramic sample. The print texture and small color shifts are part of the photographed object.
